Enter a usage amount (in kWh) and this page will generate a chart showing how the approximate cost of that usage has changed over time. Of course, real-world electricity use isn’t constant, but then neither are the rates, as this chart makes clear.
In proceedings before the Yukon Utilities Board, I have repeatedly asked that utilities provide customers with actual rates, inclusive of the riders, but those requests have always been rejected. I believe customers would benefit from knowing the real cost of the electricity they use. In one hearing, ATCO seemed to agree that customers would benefit from knowing actual rates.
Since Yukon Energy, ATCO, and the Yukon Utilities Board have not provided actual rate information, I decided to do it myself. The results are presented here. These are historical rates. The expected current rate for the next bill is at the bottom of the page.
YEC and ATCO: If you have detailed historical rate data, please share it, and it will be added to this page. Customers deserve a greater level of transparency!
There was a little bit of rate relief for winter 2026, starting Oct 1, 2025 and ending in March. And even with this temporary rebate, this was still 11.6% higher than last winter, which was 12% higher than the previous winter.
Your Yukon Electricity Bill Over Time
– These rates apply to Rate Schedule 1160 Residential Service Hydro, Non-Government, and a maximum of 1000 kWh.
– Rates are based on the billing cycles shown in the table. Your numbers will vary somewhat in months with rate changes, because rate changes begin on the first of the month, while meters are read at other times, and rounding plays a part too. However, the overall trend on the graph remains the same.
– This calculator comes with no guarantees and is provided for informational and discussion purposes only. I guess this is the real disclaimer. This site is not associated with Yukon Energy or ATCO Electric Yukon or the Yukon Utilities Board.
– The giant spreadsheet behind this was made using my bills and checked against those that others have provided to me, and checked against the ATCO Bill Calculator when possible.
– I do invite ATCO and YEC to provide customers with actual rates on billing statements, and to provide corrections if any problems are noted with these numbers.
